Use your lavender-infused honey in tea, drizzle it over desserts, or spread it on toast. Get creative with how you incorporate this delightful, floral-infused honey into your favorite recipes.
Ingredients:
· 1 cup of high-quality honey
· 2-3 tablespoons dried culinary lavender buds (make sure they are pesticide-free)
· Clean, dry glass jar with a tight-fitting lid
· Cheesecloth or a fine mesh strainer
· Sunlight
Instructions:
1. Choose Quality Ingredients:
o Start with a good-quality honey and culinary lavender. Make sure the lavender buds are clean and free of pesticides.
2. Prepare the Jar:
o Clean the glass jar thoroughly and ensure it's completely dry. A mason jar with a tight-fitting lid works well for this purpose.
3. Add Lavender Buds:
o Place 2-3 tablespoons of dried culinary lavender buds into the clean, dry jar. Adjust the amount based on your personal taste preferences; more buds will result in a stronger lavender flavor.
4. Pour in Honey:
o Pour the honey over the lavender buds in the jar, ensuring that the buds are completely submerged. Use a clean spoon to stir the honey and lavender together slightly.
5. Secure the Lid:
o Seal the jar tightly with the lid. Make sure it's airtight to prevent any contaminants from entering the honey.
6. Place in Sunlight:
o Find a sunny spot for your jar. Place it in direct sunlight for 1-2 weeks. The sunlight helps to infuse the honey with the aromatic flavor of lavender. Be sure to shake the jar gently every day to distribute the lavender throughout the honey.
7. Check for Desired Flavor:
o After 1-2 weeks, taste the honey to see if it has reached your desired level of lavender flavor. If it hasn't, you can leave it in the sunlight for a bit longer.
8. Strain the Honey:
o Once you're satisfied with the flavor, strain the honey to remove the lavender buds. Use cheesecloth or a fine mesh strainer over a clean bowl or another jar. Press down on the lavender buds to extract as much flavor as possible.
9. Store the Infused Honey:
o Transfer the strained lavender-infused honey back into the clean jar. Store it in a cool, dark place. The honey should last for several months, but make sure to check for any signs of spoilage before using.
