Meet the Maker- Wildwood Lavender Farm
Meet Shana and Bill of Wildwood Lavender Farm. Some of you may remember the lavender stand outside of their home when they lived in Glen Rock as a summer staple on Church Street. They have since moved to build up their business but I am happy to announce that they will be back every other week at the Glen Rock Farmers Market on Sundays beginning on August 15th.
I love their commitment to their crop and living all lavender all the time. It is one of the first things you will notice when you meet them. Shana even sent in their interview answers in purple!
Q. What nicknames do you have?
A. Lavender Lady, Bill is Kinger
Q. What did you do before running your business?
A. I still work for the state managing Early Childhood contractors. In the past I taught 3, 4 & 6th grade and ran a family child care home.
Q. Where do you see yourself in 5 years?
A. Retired from state job & running U-pick on the farm. Possibly Lavender Festivals.
Q. What is your favorite holiday?
A. Christmas
Q. What is the weirdest thing you've had to deal with for your business?
A. One location we sold at had a snake infestation. I caught 11 snakes for relocation and confirmed at least 13. I fell down in front of a customer when one spooked me! Lavender does not repel snakes ☹️
Q. Send me one of your favorite photos that you don't mind me sharing.
Ali here; Shana sent the picture above. Aren't they the cutest?!
Q. What is your favorite song to work to?
A. Steve Miller Band
Q. Solve for X, show your work: 16-2X = 5X+9
A. x=1
16-2x+2x=5x+9+2x
16=5x+11x
16=16x
divide each side by 16
1=x (Teaching 6th grade helped)
