Foraging & Plant Identification Walk with Bill King

Take a walk around the farm with Bill King, co-owner of Wildwood Lavender Farm, and discover some of the plants growing right here on Maryland’s Eastern Shore!

Along the way, you’ll learn how to identify local plants, trees, flowers and even some common “weeds,” explore their traditional and practical uses, and sample some of our local edible plants.

This relaxed, hands-on walk is perfect for beginner and intermediate foragers, nature lovers, and anyone who thinks, “I don’t know much about this, but I’d love to learn more and ask questions!”

🌳 Meet Your Guide

Bill holds an Associate Degree in Environmental Science and a B.S. in Environmental Geography. An Eagle Scout and longtime Scout leader, he has been involved with and volunteered in Scouting for more than 30 years. He currently works with the Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection, Office of Water Management.

Bill is an all-around outdoors and nature guy who can identify an impressive variety of local trees, plants, flowers, “weeds,” birds and wildlife—not to mention quite a few constellations! Most of all, he enjoys sharing what he knows with curious learners of all ages.

🥾 What to Expect

Plan for approximately a 2-hour outdoor adventure through wooded areas and slightly rugged terrain. The walk will be held rain or shine, so please dress for the weather.

Wear sturdy, closed-toe shoes such as sneakers or hiking boots. Long pants are recommended. Feel free to bring your field guides and collection bags. Free water & nature notepad included.
