Sunflowers Ready to Pick

Our sunflowers are now available for U-Pick/Cut. You can fill a 22oz. cup ($5/cup) full of sunflowers or mix them up with cosmos for a colorful display. These are small head sunflowers which are perfect for bouquets & arrangements.

We still have plenty of French Grosso available by bundles for U-Pick/Cut ($6/bundle).

How to Care for Sunflower Arrangements:

Pick in the early morning

  • Try to pick as early as possible. We open at 9am most mornings, but if you would like to come early, please send us a message.

Cut stems at an angle

  • If you cut stems at an angle, there is more surface area of the stem available to soak up more water. Straight cut stems will rest flat on the bottom of a vase, blocking them from being able to soak up much water.

Put stems in water immediately after picking

  • Sunflowers are big with long stems and heavy flowers. They need to be kept in water as much as possible to prevent them from wilting. Putting them in water immediately after picking will keep them well hydrated and lessen the shock of being picked. We will have jugs of water available for you to freshen your bouquets. Our cups will also fit in most car cupholders for a safe trip home.

Change the water every day

  • I’ve tried a multitude of over-the-counter and homemade flower preservers, and frankly none has ever worked as well as simply changing the water in the vase every day. The idea here is to keep the bacteria levels low to slow the decomposition of the flowers. (Painted Hinge Tips On How To Keep Sunflowers Alive And Fresh)
