U-pick & Updates

Edelweiss, Gross Bleu & Grosso are available for you pick this week. Because of the heat, we harvested the English and majority of grosso. The weather has moved our natural schedule up by about two weeks. We want to be honest and let guest know they will not see a full field of lavender.

We practice the "slow flowers" movement; meaning we allow our crops to follow the natural timing of the weather and nature. It is similar to the difference between fast food and good ol' home cooked "slow food." We create a true product as nature intended. Our plants are ready for your garden and are hardened off in the good outdoors. They do not go into shock from being transferred quickly from a greenhouse to the outside.

We invite you to enjoy U-pick this week. We will continue to have "2nd blooms" on the English through October. Although smaller and sparse throughout the field, they are high quality buds which are ideal for culinary.

New to cutting lavender? For English cultivars, cut between the 1st & 2nd set of "V" leaves but no further then below the 2nd set. For French/Intermediaries, cut just above the hardy wood bush. The bush stems on the French do not grow back and it is important to cut properly.

Besides U-pick, we have a good stock of lavender plants available. Currently, Super Bleu, Hidcote, Royal Velvet, Sensational, Phenomenal, Bowles Early, Edelweiss, Little Lady & Gross Bleu are available in gallon & a few 2-gallon pots. Get ready to pre-order Miss Katherine, Munstead & Grosso for fall planting. We will be starting propagation in the next few weeks. Plants will be available on our website for ordering.

Picnic areas, hiking, geocaching and the farm stand are open. Our field flowers are still growing but will be available soon. Sunflowers are ready for purchase by the stem(s).
